Tour – Portugal and Northern Spain


  • Day 1
    Arrival in Lisbon. Meet and greet with the guide at the airport. Half-day tour of Lisbon. Shuttle service and accommodation at the Hotel Real Park 4* in Lisbon. Vign Mosteiro dos Jeronimos The Belem district, at the mouth of the Tagus River and its XVI century monuments, the Jeronimos Monastery (burial place of discoverer Vasco da Gama and Camoes) and the Belem Tower.

    This city is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lisbon´s central avenue, the Avenida da Liberdade, the Rossio Square, the city´s downtown core “Baixa” (area of the XVII century) and the medieval quarter of Alfama with its typical narrow streets, stairways and several viewing platforms offering amazing views of the city. Dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 2
    Sintra- a unique city with fabulous parks, palaces and mansions. Visit to the romantic Pena Palace (XIX century) with its scenic road from the city center, and the mystical Quinta da Regaleira mansion with its mysterious caves and grottoes.

    Moving from Sintra to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, then through the famous resort towns of Cascais and Estoril, along the coast and returning to Lisbon. Lunch at a typical restaurant in Lisbon.
  • Day 3
    Óbidos –Coimbra - Overnight at the Hotel Ipanema Porto 4*. Obidos — a famous city on a hillside surrounded by walls. Its narrow streets still retain memories of the Arab era.

    The town is also known as the city of the king as it was ruled or many centuries by the Portuguese king. Dona Leonor and Dona Catarina (both Queens of Portugal) left a memory in form of beautiful churches and a aqueduct. Obidos undoubtebly bares the mark of a woman´s touch and it is no coincidence that this small town is also known for another woman, artist Josefa de Ayala also known as Josefa de Obidos. Obidos is one of the most picturesque towns.

    Lunch at a typical fish restaurant in Nazaré (The restaurante is located on the beach, just a few feet away from the ocean) Coimbra – located above this town is the oldest university of the country, a former Royal Palace, which is also home to the famous baroque library. Visit to the library (Last entry at 17:00)
  • Day 4
    Overview of the Porto Port Wine –Lunch at the Hotel. Porto is a unique urban ensemble under UNESCO´s protection. A medieval town of the XII century, baroque churches, modern buildings, … Ex Libris - the Douro River embankment and the amazing Eiffel and Seriga bridges, which you will sail under by ship.

    Visit to the cellars , there the most famous Portuguese wine is kept, the Port Wine. Wine Tasting. Dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 5
    Porto - Guimaraes - Braga – Viana do Castelo - Hotel Axis Viana 4* – Dinner at the hotel . Full day Green Wine tour – Minho Province. Guimarães, the first capital of the Kingdom of Portugal and a medieval ensemble recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This charming medieval town is the birthplace of the first King of Portugal and the 2012 European Capital of Culture.

    Braga – the religious center of the country with outstanding temples of different eras. Viana do Castelo – a port city at the mouth of the Lima River, associated with the Age of Discovery.
  • Day 6
    Viana do Castelo to Vigo – Santiago de Compostela - Hotel Compostela 4* – Dinner at the hotel. Departure from Viana do Castelo. Passage through the cross-border city-fortress Walesa. Crossing of the border to Spain over the Minho River bridge.

    Visit to Vigo, the largest fishing port in Northern Spain. Moving along to Santiago de Compostela, an amazing city covered with granite medieval streets grown around the cathedral which was built after the miraculous discovery of the remains of James the apostle. Pilgrims from around the world come every day to visit Santiago de Compostela.
  • Day 7
    Santiago - Leon – Hotel Eurostars Leon 4* – Dinner at the Hotel. La Coruna. Many say that this city was built on an ancient Celtic Castro. The Tower of Hercules (an ancient Roman lighthouse) still guides sailors to this day and is a emblematic structure in La Coruna.
  • Day 8
    Leon / Burgos – Hotel Abba Burgos 4* – Dinner at the Hotel. Leon is the capital of one of the first kingdoms-the kingdom of Leon-established on Iberian Peninsula in the era of the Reconquest.

    Among the many monuments of architecture this city provides a cathedral with the best collection of stained-glass windows, as well as one of Antonio Gaudi´s creations- "Botines House" (Casa de Botines).
  • Day 9
    Brugos/San Sebastian – Hotel NH Aranzazu 4*, a five minute walk from the beach. Dinner at the hotel. Burgos was founded in 884. Birthplace of Sid-Warrior, the main character of the Spanish heroic epic, a city renowned for its outstanding cathedral, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important point on the path for pilgrims traveling to Santiago.

    San Sebastian- one of the most picturesque resort towns on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. Its beach -Playa de la Concha- was named one of Spain´s natural wonders.
  • Day 10
    Overview of Bilbao and free time in San Sebastian for an unguided walk and tasting of local specialties (a culinary Mecca of Spain). Bilbao is the capital of the Basque Country, in the present, the city is one of the largest industrial and cultural centers in Spain.

    The Old Town (XV )and its harmonious mix of modern and avant-garde buildings, among which are the Congress Palace and the Guggenheim Museum (Museum of Modern Art)
  • Day 11
    Transfer to Lisbon and flight back home
